One of the largest sections of the original Town Crier was \u201cWhat People Are Doing,\u201d highlighting things like, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMrs. Louise Van Ogle, whose illustrated musical lectures are among the most delightful events of any season, will go to Vancouver next month,\u201d<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMrs. R.E. Bragdon, one of Seattle\u2019s crack tennis players, is waiting for word from Washington, D.C., which will send her abroad as a licensed ambulance driver.\u201d<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In this new series we\u2019re revisiting the old column and tying it to our community\u2019s current happenings, asking: \u201cwhat are people doing?\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Today\u2019s entry\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the specter of the Spanish Flu lurking over Seattle\u2019s streets in the fall of 1918, Halloween festivities were quelled. \u201cHalloween parties will be in the discard this year,\u201d the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Town Crier<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wrote despondently, \u201cbut still the day may be suitably observed at home.\u201d The writer suggested going to the White Elephant Shop. Also? Attendees are encouraged to come in costume!
