We\u2019ll reopen in the coming months but there\u2019s still work to do! \u00a0<strong>Help us raise $200,000 in new gifts by the end of February and an anonymous donor will match your gifts, dollar-for-dollar.<\/strong> <strong>Learn more\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lovethistown.org\/\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While we\u2019re eager to open our doors again, we\u2019re starting a new series entitled \u201c<strong>If These Halls Could Talk<\/strong>,\u201d highlighting specific upgrades and enhancements to our building. One renovation we\u2019re particularly happy with is our elevator. We\u2019ve installed a gleaming, bright, state-of-the-art thyssenkrupp elevator. It recently had a talk with our old elevator, Otis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>thyssenkrupp: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Otis, you did good work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Otis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Thanks! I was moving people up and down at Town Hall for years!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>thyssenkrupp:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> You\u2019ve got quite a storied history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Otis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Do I ever! Otis is the world\u2019s largest manufacturer of vertical transportation systems! Otis invented the \u201csafety elevator\u201d in 1852. Sweet Elisha Otis was our founder. After he demonstrated his newfangled elevator at the 1854 World\u2019s Fair in New York City, the elevator industry established credibility! His 1857 steam plow invention didn\u2019t gain steam though. Ha! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>thyssenkrupp:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> You\u2019re telling me that without Otis, I wouldn\u2019t be here!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Otis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> You\u2019re too kind! But, yes. Not to brag, but our elevators have been in some of the world\u2019s most famous structures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>thyssenkrupp: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do tell! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Otis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The Eiffel Tower. Have you heard of it?! Oh, I have stories. The Empire State Building. That\u2019s pretty famous. The original World Trade Center. CN Tower. Oh. And yes, of course, Town Hall Seattle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>thyssenkrupp:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> I\u2019m honored to follow in your illustrious footsteps and add something new. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Otis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> How so?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>thyssenkrupp:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Modernization.
