It\u2019s like Town Hall, but over at the Seattle Center. \u201cThrough intergenerational, multicultural exchange, we aim to promote greater social understanding,\u201d reads Northwest Folklife’s mission statement. It\u2019s quite similar to Town Hall\u2019s mission statement. \u201cA vibrant gathering place in the heart of Seattle,\u201d it reads, \u201cfostering an engagement community through civic, arts, and educational programs that reflect\u2014<\/em> and inspire\u2014<\/em>our region\u2019s best impulses: creativity, empathy, and the belief that we all deserve a voice.\u201d <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>With that in mind, Town Hall is eager to be present at the coming \u201c<\/span>One Big Neighborhood<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u201d winter festival (2\/16-2\/22). It’s being put on by Northwest Folklife and the Seattle Center. We\u2019ll have a table there on Saturday (2\/16). Come on by and make a zine with us!<\/strong> The multi-day festival is a youth and family program that provides opportunities to share and sustain the vitality of folk, ethnic, and traditional arts for present and future generations.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Saturday\u2019s (2\/16) theme is \u201cYouth Rising<\/strong>.\u201d Performances will include the School of Rock House Band, Lil Brown Girls Club, and others! <\/span>
\n
\n<\/span>Sunday\u2019s (2\/17) theme i<\/span>s \u201cExpressions of Asia<\/strong>.\u201d There will be martial arts, dancing, and much more.<\/p>\n

Monday\u2019s (2\/18) theme is \u201cBeats and Rhymes Hip Hop<\/strong>\u201d and is being presented by 206 Zulu.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Tuesday\u2019s (2\/19) theme is \u201cRhythms and Motion<\/strong>\u201d and will include Seattle Drum School and majorette dances.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Wednesday\u2019s (2\/20) theme is \u201cMiddle Eastern Folk Traditions<\/strong>.\u201d There will be plenty of dancing.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Thursday\u2019s (2\/21) theme is \u201cFesta Brazil!<\/strong>\u201d and will include world music and Brazilian capoeira. <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The festivities conclude on Friday (2\/22) with \u201cRoots of America<\/strong>.\u201d <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Whether you\u2019re interested in breakdancing or taiko drumming; Appalachian dance or learning a Jimi Hendrix tune on ukulele, it\u2019ll be One Big Neighborhood<\/a> – one that Town Hall is so fortunate to be a part of. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
