If selected, we&#8217;ll give you free tickets to your custom itinerary!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jonathan Shipley, Town Hall\u2019s Associate Communications Director, shares his itinerary: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The American Trappist monk, writer, theologian, mystic, poet, social activist, and scholar Thomas Merton once said, \u201cArt enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.\u201d <\/span>My life has been made better countless ways in countless times by the arts and those that make art.<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cThe arts are not a way to make a living,\u201d Kurt Vonnegut wrote. \u201cThey are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow.\u201d I practice art. I write. I take photographs. I collage. I don\u2019t do these things well, but I don\u2019t do them badly, either. Regardless, it makes my soul grow. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In September, during Town Hall\u2019s Homecoming Festival, I\u2019m looking forward to further growing my soul by watching others expand theirs.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/caspar-babypants-9-2019-2\/\"><b>9\/7 Caspar Babypants<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caspar Babypants (AKA Chris Ballew of the Grammy-nominated band The Presidents of the United States of America) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/disco-hippos-and-laughing-your-head-off-with-caspar-babypants\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is a delight<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. He\u2019s performing his first ever Saturday Family Concert in the Great Hall.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/short-stories-live-emerald-city-blues\/\"><b>9\/8 Short Stories Live: Emerald City Blues<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Washington State Poet Laureate <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.castroluna.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Claudia Castro Luna<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is curating readings by contemporary Seattle writers reflecting on identity and uncertainty in our changing city.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/music-showcase-youth-rising-in-the-town\/\"><b>9\/14 Youth Rising in the Town<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There\u2019s nothing more inspiring to me than watching younger generations challenge and change the status quo. In a takeover of our Forum space, in collaboration with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwfolklife.org\/thehydrant\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Hydrant<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, there will be a celebration of music and more, put on by Seattle\u2019s youth. Performances include Kid Roman, Kay C, Laureli, and Lexi Lalauni.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/you-had-me-at-cello\/\"><b>9\/22 You Had Me at Cello<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town Music Artistic Director Joshua Roman brings celebrated cellists to the stage for the inaugural concert of Town Music\u2019s 2019-20 season. To note: I played cello like a champ in 4th grade under the direction of Mr. Mill. I could play the theme to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QEiXwUENREY\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ghostbusters<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> quite well.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/chase-jarvis\/\"><b>9\/23 Chase Jarvis<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Well known photographer Chase Jarvis comes to the stage to share the good news from his book <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creative Calling<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> that creativity isn\u2019t a skill, it\u2019s a habit available to everyone. There\u2019s also a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/pre-shows-post-shows-shows-shows-shows\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">pre-event meetup<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for photographers! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/brian-blade\/\"><b>9\/27 Brian Blade<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Earshot Jazz is bringing acclaimed jazz drummer <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4p7terK_udw\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brian Blade<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to Town Hall\u2019s stage. Blade is a Grammy Award-winner and is presenting his new project, Life Cycles.
