One of the largest sections of the original Town Crier was \u201cWhat People Are Doing,\u201d highlighting things like, \u201cMiss Dorothy Ewing will be the guest of honor at a picnic luncheon\u201d and, \u201cHave you heard whispered the coming vogue for Oriental pearls?\u201d In this series we\u2019re revisiting the old column and tying it to our community\u2019s current happenings, asking: \u201cwhat <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">are <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">people doing?\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Today\u2019s entry\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There\u2019s an ad in the August 23 issue of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Town Crier<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. It\u2019s for the Cremation Society of Washington on Queen Anne Boulevard at Sixth West (an organization that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cremationsocietywa.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">still exists<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Tacoma). Under the management of Arthur Wright, the Cremation Society offered a private ambulance, earth burials, shipments. There were licensed embalmers on site. She was here last year as part of our Inside\/Out season.
