One of the largest sections of the original <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Town Crier<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was \u201cWhat People Are Doing,\u201d highlighting things like, \u201cThe Junior Prom takes place tonight at the Masonic Temple\u201d and, \u201cThe Smith College Club of Seattle is giving a series of dances at the Women\u2019s University Club to aid in raising the $4,000,000 endowment fund for their alma mater.\u201d In this series we\u2019re revisiting the old column and tying it to our community\u2019s current happenings, asking: \u201cwhat are people doing?\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some excellent children\u2019s entertainment was available over a century ago. The April 24, 1919 edition of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Town Crier<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> informs us of a fascinating show. \u201cOn April 30 and May 1 Miss Cornish is taking her group of six puppeteers to Portland, where they will present the plays of \u2018Alice in Wonderland\u2019 and \u2018Columbine\u2019 at the Little Theater.\u201d That would have been a show to see! It certainly brought lots of entertainment to the kids\u2014a real necessity, both then and now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luckily, the Seattle Public Library is here to deliver a much-needed dose of children\u2019s programming for parents in quarantine. Their Virtual Story Time event aimed at toddlers present stories, rhymes, songs, and fun with their children\u2019s librarian.
