I mentioned the power we feel when we\u2019re with people who share our curiosities, our passions, and especially our optimism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOptimism\u201d is so often called out as essential to America\u2019s national character. I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s true, but knowing the character of Town Hall for 16 years now I can say that optimism\u2014fundamental to our belief that together we can make the world better for each other\u2014burns hot inside most card-carrying Town Hall-ions, too.<\/p>\n<p>With the last states formally called (if not officially certified) today this election is effectively concluded. And no matter your perspective on the outcome I hope at last you\u2019re getting that sense of closure that allows us to face the future with confidence. I\u2019m going to celebrate with my family tonight\u2014and if you\u2019re in the mood to join me\u2026<\/p>\n<p>A look back through our Media Library will recall some of the extraordinary nights we\u2019ve spent together on the way to this moment: <a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/stacey-abrams\/\"><strong>Stacey Abrams<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/march-for-our-lives\/\"><strong>March for Our Lives<\/strong><\/a>, with moving stories of community organization; <a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/amber-tamblyn-2019\/\"><strong>Amber Tamblyn<\/strong><\/a>, on finding political power as you come of age; and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/combating-hate-empathy-through-storytelling-livestream\/\">World Without Hate<\/a>, <\/strong>where stories coalesce into a vision of the change we want to see. And from the last three weeks alone&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/steve-davis-with-chelsea-clinton-livestream\/\"><strong>Steve Davis and Chelsea Clinton<\/strong><\/a> turn outrage to practical activism; and <a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/jane-fonda-elizabeth-lesser-livestream\/\"><strong>Jane Fonda\/Elizabeth Lesser <\/strong><\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/robert-d-putnam-with-shaylyn-romney-garrett-livestream\/\"><strong>Robert Putnam\/Shaylin Garrett<\/strong><\/a>, issue inspiring calls to overcome self interest in favor of a common interest and heal the country.<\/p>\n<p>After you look back, look forward to tomorrow night\u2019s installment of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/bushwick-book-club-become-america-by-eric-liu-livestream\/\">Bushwick Book Club<\/a>, which offers original songs inspired by a book: this time, Eric Liu\u2019s <em>Become America<\/em><\/strong>, which collects a number of secular \u201csermons\u201d from his wonderful Civic Saturdays programs. Many of them are hosted at\/with Town Hall.
