Earlier this year, we announced a new series called <a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/introducing-unlearning-with-lindsey-t-h-jackson\/\">Unlearning <\/a>curated by Lindsey T.H. Jackson, and now we\u2019re excited to introduce a new series launching in January: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/event\/queering-talks-in-between\/\">Queering Talks \u2013 In Between, Out in Front, Always Been<\/a> curated by Dr. Jen Self<\/strong>, (they\/them) graduate of the\u202fUniversity of Washington School of Social Work &amp; founder of the\u202fUW Q\u202fCenter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/jen-self.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-65891\" style=\"width:267px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/jen-self.jpg 200w, https:\/\/townhallseattle.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/jen-self-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t your typical lecture series. <strong>Queering Talks<\/strong> flips the traditional keynote format (like Ted Talks) on its head and reimagines it through a queer lens. These talks will shake up ideas about who speaks, who listens, and who is centered as the audience. This series is designed to inspire, challenge, and expand our perspectives. It\u2019s built around three themes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In Between: <\/strong>This segment dives into the spaces that don\u2019t fit neatly into categories \u2014 the in-between places where identities and experiences are fluid and resist easy definition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Out in Front: <\/strong>We\u2019ll put the spotlight on the people who\u2019ve always been at the forefront of movements for justice, love, and equality. These are the voices that have led the way and sparked change, showing us the power of the margins.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Always Been: <\/strong>We\u2019ll explore the deep history of queer people as visionaries, healers, storytellers, and culture-makers \u2014 reminding us that these contributions have always been part of our world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Town Hall, we\u2019re always looking for ways to spark meaningful conversations and create space for everyone to feel seen, heard, and inspired. <strong>Queering Talks <\/strong>is a reflection of that commitment, and I hope you\u2019ll join us in January for this bold series.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you\u2019re curious to learn, ready to be challenged, or simply looking to connect with a community that values inclusivity and growth, this series is for you.
