Recognized for the pyrotechnic character of his vocal art, Philippe Jaroussky has also recently joined the field of orchestral conducting. With his own ensemble founded in 2002, he takes on this double role of soloist and conductor and offers a bouquet of 18th century Italian cantatas on the passionate theme of jealousy.
This concert is dedicated to the memory of Naomi Shiff
An enthusiastic and skilled early-music amateur, Naomi Shiff’s passion was playing Renaissance music from original notation, and she was a devoted supporter of Early Music Seattle, the Seattle Recorder Society, and EMA, among others. Professionally, she was among the first female computer programmers. A family death notice mentioned that, “in keeping with her love of learning, she had her remarkable brain donated to the University of Washington Brain Study.”
